Southern Rover Programs The 2018 Discover the Power of Parks program year is has begun! Interpretive ranger, Bethany Bryant has planned informative and fun programs for you to take advantage of while visiting some of our Southern Area State Parks. Parks include Seacoast State Parks, Kingston State Park, Pillsbury State Park, Odiorne Point State Park, Wallis Sands State Beach and Hampton Beach State Park. In this program, we will explore some of the popular myths and stories surrounding the constellations. Busy Beavers Beavers have a checkered history in the Northeast. In this program, learn about the habits of beavers, why they were trapped, and how they made their comeback in NH. Wildlife Fur-ensics Who dun it? Put your wildlife sleuthing skills to the test to see which NH critter committed the crime! Tales from the CCC During the height of the Great Depression, the CCC was in NH building roads, planting forests, and constructing Pillsbury State Park. Hear stories of this service organization around a campfire. Mighty Macros Explore the tiny (but not invisible!) critters that live in NHs lakes and learn what secrets they hold. Tree ID Walk Explore the trees around Kingston SP and learn how to identify almost every tree you encounter! Bear Bedtime Story Bring the kids for a tale of how one family kept bears out of their food while camping. LNT Timeline Trash takes awhile to decompose. Do you know how long it takes various items to vanish? Test your knowledge with this game. Plover Perils The endangered Piping Plover makes a home on NH's seacoast. Learn about these resilient birds and make a plover chick craft to take home. Brilliant Bats Why are bats so feared and revered? Join an interpreter just after nightfall to watch for these incredible flying mammals and learn about their mysterious lives. Catch a Cloud Clouds can tell us a lot about the weather and about ourselves. Relax and watch the clouds or make your own to take home. Shorebirds Galore What is that bird flying over the coast? Join us to learn about gulls, terns, eider ducks and other feathered friends that live along New Hampshire’s coast. What’s in a Watershed? When water falls to Earth, it doesn’t evaporate right away. Discover how water moves through the landscape and what you can do to protect our waterways.
