Program Descriptions

Let's get Pyro-Technical!
Join Ranger Pete for an inflammatory look into the history of fire and try your hand at some old-school fire starting methods! Using flint and steel, a bunch of sticks and rope, and some elbow grease we'll be putting aside our matches and lighters to see how the pioneers made flame. Bring your own Marshmallows and weiners for a classic campfire started the fun way!

Songs of the Old North
The voices of the past have long been silent, but they left their songs behind. Accordion in hand, Ranger Pete will take you on a musical journey through time to hear the songs of the loggers, reformers, patriots and mountain men who settled the North East. Bring a comfy chair and lounge along the sandy shore of White Lake as the past comes alive! Bring your own instruments and voices to add to the din (if you dare).

Backcountry Bootcamp
Buckle up for a crash-course in backcountry camping skills. Set up your own LNT bear bag, improvised shelters and more as Ranger Pete prepares you for survival in the deep backwoods. Move over Bear Grylls, there's a new generation of White Lake survivalists ready for action!

Ranger for a Day
Congratulations! You've been recruited by NH Parks to be a ranger for a day! Drop by simulated campsites and be the judge of what is and what isn't up to snuff. Identify native flora and fauna like an expert and become a Leave-No-Trace pro!

Stars Stars Stars
The sun has set and the stars are out. Grab a water bottle, and a flashlight as Ranger Pete sheds some light on the stories and stars that light up the night sky.
