Visitors can make a reservation before arriving at the park as parking is limited (especially on nice weekends and holidays). Visitors who do not make a reservation will be admitted on a first-come/first-serve basis. Reservations can be made prior to arrival and no later than 3pm on the day of your visit. Please plan ahead in the event the parking areas reach capacity.


Parking Fees: $15 per passenger vehicle. NH residents age 65 and over $0.
Recreational Vehicles (RV) must pay $30 as they require 2 parking spaces.
Reservations are still recommended.
Tollboth: Closed
Bathhouse: Open 8:00 am - 8:00 pm.

Off season use: This park is always open for recreation unless otherwise posted. During off hours and the off-season the park is typically not staffed, comfort stations are not available and gates may be closed. The off-season poses unique risks inherent when participating in outdoor recreational activities. Recreationists should possess the necessary knowledge, skill, and equipment to ensure their own safety. Users assume all risk while recreating in State Park lands.

Hampton Beach State Park (South Beach) provides year-round recreation, with Atlantic ocean-front facilities situated along miles of sandy beach. Activities in the park include swimming, fishing, picnicking, and RV camping with full hook-ups in the campground.

Day Use Reservations at South Beach Hampton State Park

Visitors can make a reservation before arriving at the park as parking is limited (especially on nice weekends and holidays). Visitors who do not make a reservation will be admitted on a first-come/first-serve basis. 

Parks Plate and Season Pass: There are desiganted spaces set aside for plate/pass holders on a first-come/first-serve basis. Reservations are still encouraged in the event a park reaches capacity (requiring a $1 transaction fee).

RV Camping at South Beach - Hampton State Park

The only RV park directly on the New Hampshire coast at the mouth of the Hampton River. The park is located south of the main part of Hampton Beach on Route 1A at the Seabrook-Hampton town line. Route 1A can be easily reached from I-95 by either Route 101 or 286. The campground, with 28 sites, is open for reservations from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend.

Camping Information

Camping units must be able to hook up to all 3 services (water, electric, and sewer) and be self contained. No pop-ups or tents are allowed at this campground at any time.  Camping Policies.
A park store is located in the day-use area. Restaurants, entertainment, and other services are offered along Rt. 1A, just a short walk north. The park is close to many area attractions, including whale watching, saltwater fishing charter boats, sandy beaches, and swimming.


Are pets allowed at South Beach - Hampton State Park?

Pets are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30. Pets are allowed on the beach from October 1 to April 30. Animals must be on a standard or rectractable leash not greater than 6 feet in length. Animal owners shall clean up any waste eliminated by their animals and place it in a trash can or remove it off-site. See our Visiting With Pets webpage for more information.

 

Equestrians: Riding in the Off-Season

Horseback riding is permitted on Hampton Beach from October 1 - April 30. Parking is available at the South Beach lot. Contact the park directly or see our administrative rules for more information.

Youth Group Day Use

Youth and School Groups must call the park directly at least 2 weeks prior to arrival to make reservations before visiting. The Bus Pass Program is available for NH youth organizations that meet the program criteria (for more information and applications, please visit BUS PASS PROGRAM.)
 
 Groups that do not meet the qualification for the Bus Pass Program are eligible to receive a discounted rate. For More information, please visit our School & Youth Group Page.

 

Keep Your Parks Clean

Through the Carry-In/Carry-Out Program, you can help us keep your parks clean and beautiful by carrying out whatever you carry in. Thank you for your cooperation and remember to recycle. Help keep the beaches clean and dispose of cigarette butts in the appropriate receptacles. 

Dump Station is for use by registered campers only.
