*NOTICE: SILVER LAKE STATE PARK 2024 OPERATIONS*

Due to intermittent and frequent Cyanobacteria warnings at the park, Silver Lake State Park will be operating the 2024 season with reduced staffing and facilities. Staff will be present but will focus on grounds maintenance.

If the blue alert banner is posted on the top of this page, an advisory has been activated. Please always check Healthy Swimming Mapper for updated information.

Facilities will be unavailable with the exception of portable toilets. The park remains open and accessible to the public for recreation.

Please see additional signage from NH Dept. of Envrionmental Services regarding cyanobacteria and current swimming recommendations. N.H. State Parks in coordination with NHDES and other stakeholders are currently working toward a watershed management plan for Silver Lake.

This park is always open for recreation unless closed or restricted by posting.

Off season use: The off-season poses unique risks inherent when participating in outdoor recreational activities. Recreationists should possess the necessary knowledge, skill, and equipment to ensure their own safety. Users assume all risk while recreating in State Park lands.

About the Park

Silver Lake State Park spans 80 acres and its sandy 1,000-foot beach curves along 34-acre Silver Lake. Popular activities in the park include swimming, picnicking, and boating. Amenities include picnic tables, canoe and kayak rentals (see fee section below). There is also a short trail loop starting from the beach and miles of hiking trails starting from the main parking lot and entering Spalding Town Forest.

Day Use Reservations at Silver Lake State Park

Visitors can make a reservation before arriving at the park as parking is limited especially on nice weekends and holidays. Walk-in spaces are available for visitors on a first come/first-serve basis. Reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to arrival.

Parks Plate & Season Pass: There are designated spaces set aside for plate/pass holders on a first-come/first-serve basis. Reservations are still encouraged in the event a park reaches capacity (requiring a $1 transaction fee).

NH Senior Citizens: To receive a discount at our per person fee locations, enter the number of NH Senior Citizens in the vehicle/occupant information section of the order details page, rather than the number of adults.
 

Are pets allowed at Silver Lake State Park?

Pets are not permitted in the park. See the NH State Parks Pets Policy for more information.
 

Group Use Reservations

Youth Group Day Use

This park is not staffed, but Youth and School Groups still must call the South Region office at 603-485-9869 at least 2 weeks prior to arrival to make reservations before visiting. The Bus Pass Program is available for NH youth organizations that meet the program criteria (for more information and applications, please visit BUS PASS PROGRAM.)
 
Groups that do not meet the qualification for the Bus Pass Program are eligible to receive a discounted rate. For More information, please visit our School & Youth Group Page.
