Limitless Adventure at Coleman State Park
Coleman state park is unique I feel because of where it's located and the
tranquility of it. It's quiet. When you come, people are so relaxed. They can walk
here and walk there. They can perform whatever activity or recreational thing
that they want to want to do, whether it's atving, walking, hiking or
just going on the pond for a nice leisurely kayak.
You can check out the loons and there's a bald eagle that comes over a
lot of times that people see. We've had the moose walk right up the road, and go
right to State Park sign. You never know each day what you're going to
see.
My name is Dianne Mattot and I'm the park manager here at Coleman State
Park. Coleman State Park is about 2,000 acres. The campground itself has 25
sites one which is a lean to. We have people that come in on ATVs we have
people in the winter time that come in on sleds.
We also have here at Coleman, the Recreation Hall. When it rains or the weather gets
bad, people go in there. The Park also offers a building that has three showers in
it and it's got a laundry facility and a retail store. The staff is very welcoming and always
willing to answer questions on anything that goes
on in the area.
If you don't like camping we have cabins that are fully furnished with everything you need. All
you have to do is come up and visit us. When you come into the cabins you're
going to have a fully applianced kitchen, you're going to have washer and dryer, and there's a deck on all of
them.
For the person that wants to get away and who wants to come to the great North Woods but they don't want to deal
with a tent and they don't want to deal with packing all that stuff up, the cabins are a great place to come
because we have all that. They've got everything in it that you need when you
leave home.
The grounds are beautifully mowed There's a little section in front of the big Lodge that we've put a fire pit
there and people do congregate around there to have a fire which is really nice to see.
A place of interest near Coleman is Beaver Brook Falls.
Beaver Brook Falls is a beautiful waterfall located on route 145 and you can walk down to the
waterfall. They have a shelter there that you can use. There's two outhouses
that are available and there's also charcoal grills. We also have a lot of
weddings that are held at Beaver Brook Falls.
When people do discover us they come they keep coming back every
year. When we get a compliment that the bathrooms are spotless and the
grounds look great and it's just so quiet and you don't hear the the bustle
and rustle of all the traffic, all that stuff that makes you put Pride into
your campground and into your staff. Because that tells you that your staff
is doing a great job.
