Day Trips for the Busy Adventurer

Being in nature is undeniably good for the soul, but trip planning can get between you and your quest for fulfillment, especially when your time is limited. For busy adventurers, New Hampshire’s 93 state parks and properties provide accessibility to outdoor spaces without the pressure of organizing the to-dos. Included in this list are five parks across the state that make perfect day-trip destinations, from a jam-packed trip to a day of decompressing and everything in between. If you only have time for multiple one-day getaways throughout the year, an NHSP Season Pass or a New Hampshire Park Plate makes getting there and getting in, that much easier.

Livermore Falls Recreation Area

Day Trips Wilderness & Water

As the hottest time of the year continues, Livermore Falls Recreation Area is a great place to explore for a day of relaxed fun. The recreation area, within Livermore Falls State Forest, has a rich history and ruins dating back to the 1870s. This Pemigewassett River access site is a great spot to put in for an easy float, and is the ideal swimming spot in Campton. Enjoy the deep, clear water and waterfalls, along with flat rocks and sandy beaches to sunbathe on. If you’re looking for a little more excitement, there are rocks and ropes swings to jump from at the other beach, located just below the falls.
