Phased Opening for OHRV Trails

The following is the approved Phased Opening for OHRV Motorized Trails Guidelines, pursuant to the Stay at Home 2.0 Guidance for State Parks.  This updated Phase plan was approved by the Governor’s Task Force for Reopening the Economy, The Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of the Governor. Please read fully.
 
ALL OHRV Operators shall agree to the following Universal Guidance:
  • remain home if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19; and
  • keep a safe distance of at least 6 feet from other people visiting the park/campground at all times; and
  • wear a cloth face covering over mouth and nose to protect others when in locations where other consumers might be present (e.g. bathroom facilities)

Trail Status: OPEN NOTES Roaring Brook Loop is CLOSED for repair.  Dixville Peak Trail, between Sugar Hill and the wind towers, is CLOSED for the season.

  • Upper Coos Recreation Trail (Colebrook to Beecher Falls, VT)
    Trail Status: OPEN
    Trail Mileage: 10.5
    Parking: Colebrook – Town Parking Lot off of Main Street, OR, behind Lemieux’s  Garage on Main Street.
    Trail Information: A multi-use rail trail owned by the State of New Hampshire open all year to ATV/UTVs. No Trail Bikes permitted.
Umbagog ATV Club (Errol, north of Route 26-Bayroot LLC Lands)

Parking: Dix Grant - 3 miles from junction of Routes 16 and 26 in Errol, go North on Corser Brook Road for 7 miles, park by bridge.

Parking: Dummer (Summer Only) - Dummer Pond Road, located on West side of Route 16, 0.5 miles South of Pontook Reservoir/Dam; OR at Newell Brook Road, located on West side of Route 16, 2.5 miles North of Pontook Reservoir/Dam. Millsfield - Millsfield Pond Road, located off Route 16, 0.4 miles North of Errol/Cambridge town line, West on Millsfield Pond Road 5.5 miles to parking area; OR at Pond Brook Road, located on South side of Route 26, 5 miles from junction of Routes 16 and 26.
Trail Information: Open to ATV/UTVs - No Trail Bikes permitted. The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance. 

North Country ATV Club (North Stratford)

Trail Status:  OPEN  NOTES The following trails are CLOSED: Blue Mountain Trail north to Cree Notch and Potato Hill Trail south to Groveton. Therefore, no connection to Colebrook or Groveton at this time. The Old Bog Road is CLOSED due to washouts and bridge maintenance.

Parking: North Stratford - Located on Route 3 at Burns Truck Stop.
Trail Information: Open to ATV/UTVs - No Trail Bikes permitted. Trails open year round except for mud season. Trails from Stratford Bog to Groveton, Potato Hill Trail, is closed.

Northern Gateway OHRV Club (Groveton)
Trail Status: OPEN   NOTE (Potato Hill Trail CLOSED) so there is no connection north, and the connection south to Lancaster is CLOSED again for the season so there is no connection to the south.
Parking: Dollar General on Rte 3.  Town Hall Parking Lot
Trail Information: open for ATV/UTV riding.  No Trailbikes permitted.

Milan Trail Huggers ATV Club (Milan/Stark/Dummer, between Rte.3 and Rt.16)

Trail Status: OPEN NOTE: The Head Pond Connector Trail, which is part of Corridor A, will be CLOSED as of Monday, July 27, and is expected to remain closed until September 15th due to resurfacing.  DETOUR: Use East Milan Road (Berlin), East Side River Road (Milan), Bridge Street (Milan), and Route 110B (Milan).

Parking: Dummer - Cedar Brook Road, .9 miles west of the junction of Rt.110A and Rt.16.
Trail Information: Open to ATV/UTVs - No Trail Bikes permitted. The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance. 

Success Trail (Berlin/Success)
Trail Status: OPEN  NOTE: The new trail, Corridor D, to connect NH to Maine opens 7/25/2020.  NH riders MUST BE REGISTERED IN MAINE to ride into Maine, and Maine riders MUST BE REGISTERED IN NH to ride into NH.

Parking: Berlin - Located on Success Pond Road (Route 16, Hutchins Street to Success Pond Road).
Trail Information: The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance. Open to ATV/UTVs.

Jericho Mountain State Park (Berlin)
Trail Status: OPEN -  NOTE: Due to a storm on 7/14/20 the following trails in the Park remain CLOSED:  Magella’s Run, Deer Fly, Boardwalk, Forest Service Bypass, Wyman’s Way, Higgins Hill, Overlook, Top Loop, and Camp Loop Road to junction of Kimball’s Way.  Smitty’s Trail, Corridor A, from Gorham to the Park will re-open on 7/25/2020.  Please use CAUTION when riding in the park as there will be equipment and workers – slow down, pay attention to signage, and follow workers’ requests.  Do not go past Trail Temporarily Closed signs!  CLOSED areas will RE-OPEN as trails are fixed.  Thanks for your patience.

Parking: Berlin - Located at end of Jericho Lake Road (off Route 110, west of downtown).
Trail Information: A multi-use trail system located in a NH State Park, open year-round for use by ATV/UTV/TB/TRUCKS/JEEPS/Snowmobiles. Also has a campground, lake, beach, and picnic area. The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance.

Trail Status: OPEN  NOTE: Due to a shortage of PT lumber, the bridge is still CLOSED on the Presidential Rail Line in Gorham.  Smitty’s Trail, Corridor A, from Gorham to Jericho S.P. will re-open on 7/25/2020.

Parking: Route 2 (recommended for trucks only, no trailers), town lots available. NO revving engines and NO loitering!
Trail Information: Open to ATV/UTV/TBs. No TBs on Smitty’s Trail to Jericho State Park, or from Bangor Street in Gorham to the Town and Country Motor Inn. The NH Bureau of Tails assists in maintenance.

Warren Recreational Rail Trail (Warren)

Parking: Warren - Located at junction of Routes 25 and 25C.
Trail Information: A multi-use rail trail owned by the State of New Hampshire, open from May 23 to beginning of mud season (end of continuous snow cover) for use by ATV/TBs. There is a 70’ Redstone Missile (an actual NASA rocket) at the beginning of the trail and the trail offers scenery of Black Brook. Trail connects to Mount Moosilauke ATV Club trails. The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance.

Sugar River Recreational Rail Trail (Newport to Claremont)
Trail Status: OPEN Year-round
Trail Mileage: 9.5
Parking: Newport - Located next to the Newport Recreation Department. From the town center, head ¼ mile north on Route 10, turn left onto Belknap Avenue, parking is located 1/10 of a mile from this turn; OR, Claremont - Located at the western terminus of the trail on the South side of Routes 11 and 103, 1.7 miles west of the Newport/Claremont town line.
Trail Information: A multi-use rail trail owned by the State of New Hampshire, open year-round for use by ATVs (50" Maximum width) and TBs, has two historic covered bridges and follows the Sugar River. Trail does not connect to Sullivan County ATV Club trails. DO NOT leave the rail trail and ride on the public snowmobile trail system - not allowed.

Parking: Winchester - From Keene take Route 10 South to Route 119 West, go about 3 miles, parking on Right/North side of Route 119. Chesterfield (WINTER ONLY) - From Keene take Route 9 West to Route 63 South, go about 1.5 miles, turn Left/East onto Old Chesterfield Road, turn Right/South onto Horseshoe Road, parking at end of road.
Trail Information: A multi-use trail system open to ATVs, UTVs (50" maximum width) and TBs. The Mt. Pisgah ATV Club assists the NH Bureau of Trails in maintenance.

Parking: Dunbarton – Route 77 to Ray Road. NO PARKING ALONG ROAD NEAR PARKING AREA!
Trail Information: A multi-use trail area open to ATVS, UTVs (50" maximum width) and TBs from May 23 to beginning of mud season (end of contiguous snow cover) on designated open snowmobile trails ONLY – no leaving the area and riding on public snowmobile trail system. The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance. The Hopkinton-Everett Trails Area is located within a US Army Corp of Engineers flood control project area; trails may be CLOSED to public recreational use at any time, without notice, for flood control purposes.

Rockingham Recreational Rail Trail - Fremont Branch (Derry to Fremont)
Trail status: OPEN  Year-round
Trail Mileage: 12
Parking: Fremont - Located across from the Fremont town library by intersection of Routes 107 and 111A, OR, Derry - Route 102 to Derry Village Traffic Circle, go East on East Derry Road, go South on Warner Hill Road, parking located on North side of trail.
Trail Information: A multi-use rail trail owned by the State of New Hampshire, open year-round for use by ATVs (50" maximum width) and TBs. Winter OHRV use is only from Route 28 in Derry to Main Street in Epping. DO NOT leave the rail trail and ride on the public snowmobile trail system - not allowed. Trail passes through wetlands and forest. The NH Bureau of Trails assists in maintenance.
