Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion Beatrix Potter Day

07/22/2019

It’s Beatrix Potter Day! Hop down to the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion State Park Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 375 Little Harbor Road, Portsmouth, NH.

Celebrate the legendary author and illustrator’s birthday with crafts, a sensory scavenger hunt, story time, and performances by campers from the NH Theatre Project. Meet author and illustrator David McPhail, whose new art show is opening in our Kolb Gallery, and illustrator Tess Feltes, who will be painting on the grounds. And enjoy a piece of birthday cake!

Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) created many beloved children’s characters, including Peter Rabbit, Miss Moppet, Squirrel Nutkin, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle. She was a family friend of the Coolidges, dedicating her last novel to Henry P. Coolidge, who, as a child, visited her in England with his mother. Call 603-436-6607 for more information. The event free and open to the public.
