Trails Bureau Presents Landowner of the Year Award

The Bureau of Trails selects one landowner each year to recognize, as part of the NH Snowmobile Trail Program, as the Landowner of the Year.

“It is an extremely difficult task to select just one each year. We have more than 5,000 landowners that allow public trails on their property in New Hampshire,” Trails Bureau Chief, Chris Gamache said.

The award recipients this year are Gerard and Teresa Paradis, of Chichester. The Paradis’ are the owners of Live and Let Live Farm, Inc. in Chichester, and they are extremely supportive of the snowmobile trail network on their property. Gerard was an original member of the Plausawa Valley Snow Putters Club, in the 1970’s. The Club no longer exists but the trails do and are maintained by the NH Trail Dawgs Snowmobile Club. The Paradis’ have had to move the trail to accommodate the needs of the Live and Let Live Farm and its animal rescue mission. The Farm currently cares for more than 80 animals on the property and that number continues to grow. The growth of the animal rescue operation has moved the snowmobile trail to new locations and Gerard does all of that work himself, including building new bridges for the club. They also provide a place for the club to keep their winter trail groomer plugged in during the winter and offer to cover the cost of the electricity themselves, and they helped the club repair their groomer one night this winter so the club could get back out and groom the trails.

“They are truly wonderful people and they want to ensure that others can enjoy themselves,” said Gamache. “They made this decision easier for me this year and it was an honor to meet with them and present this award to them.”
