Pawtuckaway and Silver Lake State Parks Adopt Alcohol Ban
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation announced today that effective July 1, 2010, Pawtuckaway State Park day-use area (excluding campground) and Silver Lake State Park will not permit alcohol. In an effort to maintain a family-oriented recreational environment the Division will be implementing this policy. "Over the past couple of years there have been complaints, as well as incidents that we are trying to alleviate,” said Ted Austin, Director, Division of Parks & Recreation. “We want families to have an enjoyable day at the beach, as well as promote healthy lifestyles. We hope such a measure will allow guest to plan visits with confidence.” As families plan their picnics and outings for this summer in state parks, the Division’s newly designed website has detailed information on every state park with a list of amenities and activities available at each location. The Division of Parks and Recreation is comprised of the Bureau of Park Operations, Bureau of Historic Sites, Bureau of Trails, and Cannon Mountain. The Division manages 92 properties, including state parks, beaches, campgrounds, historic sites, trails, waysides, and natural areas.
