Federal Grant Money Available for Recreational Projects

(Concord, NH – January 14, 2013)  The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation announces Grant Round Twenty-Six of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

The LWCF is a federal 50/50 matching grant program targeted at enhancing New Hampshire’s outdoor recreational opportunities. Funds can be used for the development of facilities or acquisition of land for public outdoor recreation areas. New Hampshire municipalities including cities, towns, counties and school districts are eligible to apply.

The FY 2012 federal apportionment for the state project side of the program totaled $42,239,000 nationally, up from $37,405,594.00 in FY 2011. The total LWCF funds available for local projects is $240,000.

Application packages for the Land and Water Conservation Fund grants are available now. The filing deadline for Application Intent form must be submitted by February 1, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. and the all grant applications must be in by 4:00 p.m., May 31, 2013.
