Greenfield State Park Programs

Another season of Discover the Power of Parks programs at Greenfield State Park has come to a close. Please be sure to visit again next year for more quality programming.

Greenfield's interpretive ranger, Jonathan Rager from the Student Conservation Association has transitioned over to Monadnock State Park and will be offering programs at the Gilson Pond Campground area with fellow ranger, Stamati Aganostou during the month of September. All programs are free with paid admission into the park.

You may also enjoy our Discover Power of Parks blog, posted weekly by our Interpreters this summer.

Program Descriptions

Pond-emonium!
There is a whole different world right at the pond’s edge! Nets and basins will be provided as we explore life in the pond and search of creatures such as frogs, snakes, dragonflies, salamanders and many more. Ready. Set. Feet wet! Come enjoy this wonderful adventure with Ranger Jonathan. All ages welcome! We will meet at the Campground Beach right by the store and take a short hike to a prime ponding location at Beaver Pond.

Makes Sense
Ever wonder what your senses are doing when you walk through the wild and wooly woods? We will be journeying through a select spot at Greenfield State Park. You will notice we don’t have to go far to get our senses in tip-top condition! See, smell, taste, touch, and even taste your way through nature on this ranger-led program that will teach anyone interested to use their senses when hiking or even in their own backyard! Meet at the Campground Store.

The Happy Camper
Greenfield State Park’s forest is going through many changes ranging from human influence to natural causes. Together, we will discover some “happy camper” ethics and find out how we can leave less impact on the land and preserve the historical, cultural, and environmental beauty for future “happy campers.”  All ages welcome! Meet at Interpretive Circle right behind the Greenfield State Parks Office.

Grin and Bear it!
Whether in your backyard, camp site, or deep woods, it is always important to know that our fury friends might be around. Join Ranger Jonathan and learn about Black Bears and how they play a vital role in New Hampshire’s forests! Meet at the Interpretive Circle right behind Greenfield State Parks Office.

Take a Hike!
Before you take a walk on the wild side, be sure to learn a little bit about planning and preparing for your hike. From leisure hikes to a mountain ascent, this program is sure to get you on the right trail! Meet at the Interpretive Circle right behind Greenfield State Parks Office.

In The Dark at Greenfield State Park
The darkness has always provided mystery and excitement, especially here in Greenfield State Park! Adults and children alike will learn the story of Greenfield at night by using their senses! Meet at Interpretive Circle right behind Greenfield State Park Office.
