Work began in earnest last month and the snowless winter has been a benefit to the contractors. Contractor Jim Parker, his crew and subcontractors have roughed in the campground roads, blasted ledge and removed trees and stumps from roads and campsites. The Department's survey crew has spent many days working with the contractors to layout the roads and campsites. Next on the construction timeline is road grading and utility trenching if the frost has not set too deep!

Please Note: The Gilson Pond Area of Monadnock State Park is closed to all public access until further notice due to construction. Recreational users (including hikers and cross country skiers) are advised to utilize Monadnock State Park Headquarters during this time. Unidentified construction hazards and unsigned relocation of roads and trails may be present which could create difficulties and safety concerns.
