Program Descriptions

Welcome Table
Meet Lee, the Interpretive Ranger at Pawtuckaway State Park! Find out what programs are being offered during your stay, learn about local wildlife and plant life, add your own leaf to the Pawtuckaway Tree and ask about the best places in the park to visit during your time here.

A Feast in the Forest
Have you ever wondered if that plant you saw was edible or not? Wonder no more! Join Interpretive Ranger Lee on a short hike to explore the abundance of wild edible plants around the park and how to identify them on your future foraging forays. Meet at the Camp Store

Uncovering Mysteries of the Night
Afraid of the dark? Fear no more as we take a short walk to learn about what is really lurking out there after the sun goes down. Discover a whole new world of plant and animal life at night and test your night vision skills. Meet at the Camp Store

Amazing Amphibians
Head on down to Burnham’s Marsh and uncover a whole world living underneath the water’s surface. Grab a net as we take a closer look at frogs, fish, and a bunch of other aquatic critters.

Map Mania!
Stop by the drop-in table near the camp store to learn the basics of map and compass navigation and put your skills to the test and see if you can find your way through several navigation challenges.

Camp Champ
Think you know all there is to know about camping? Come play games, learn to tie knots, and take a short quiz to see if you really are a Camp Champ!
