Program Descriptions

Old Allenstown Meeting House
Encapsulating years of important Allenstown history, the meetinghouse is bursting with information about lives past. Stop by on your way out of the park and take another nugget of knowledge home with you this trip.

Phenomenal Ponding
Come over to the day-use beach and discover what is beneath the surface of the water. Using nets and dichotomous keys, we will explore the creatures of the deep-ish.

Without A Trace
Learn how to experience nature without leaving a trace outside the camp store! The wildlife of Bear Brook will thank you.

Campfire Conversations
Next to the warmth of a campfire, join the interpretive rangers as we share New England legends and some spook-tacular stories.

A Walk in the Woods
Ever wondered about the trees that protect us from the summer sun? Now’s your chance to identify them! By the end of the 1.5-mile walk around Beaver Pond it’ll be a breeze sorting through the leaves of our shade-y friends. Bug spray, water, and suitable shoes are recommended.

Campsite Crime Scene
Help me solve the mystery of who’s been through our camp with the tracks they left behind. The crime scene will be set up outside the camp store for you to sort through.

Ain’t No Sunshine
Animals have adapted incredible ways to survive the night; some are even most active then! Join us to explore how humans compare to nocturnal animals found within the park. Bring a flashlight and a sense of wonder for this evening program.

Sketching At Spruce
Any level of art welcomed at this morning nature sketching session. Materials will be provided, just bring your imagination and creative self! Meet me in front of the camp store.

Starry, Starry Night
Come take a look at some constellations and hear about their stories. Meet the rangers in the baseball field for out of this world discoveries! Be sure to bring bug spray and a flashlight.

Amazing Amphibians
Frogs, toads, and salamanders await your discovery! Explore a vernal pool in front of the camp store to learn about each species.
