Look here for trail status and information on openings, closures, reroutes and other news. The information provided on this page is subject to change at any time. Please contact the ATV clubs for specific information.
  • Lancaster trails are open to North Country ATV trails and Groveton. Contact the KilKenny ATV Club for info.

Great North Woods Region

(Trails in Pittsburg will close as of October 1, 2014)
Rules for Operating on open segments of State Highways in Coos County:  (Will close for the season November 3, 2014)
  • Ride only on highway segments signed open for OHRV use.  
  • Ride with Traffic in Travel Lane.  Do not use the breakdown lane.  Travel like a car.
  • Obey Posted Highway Speed Limits. 
  • Obey All Highway Signs and Signals
  • Must Have Operational Brake Light
  • Ride Single File
  • Daylight Travel Only, No Night Riding
  • No loading or unloading of trailers in the highway right of way
  • Children Under 12 May NOT Operate on Roads (may ride on a machine with an adult but may not operate their own machine)
  • Children 12-16 Must have a Safety Certificate & Be Accompanied by a Licensed Adult (can be on their own machine but MUST be within voice distance of adult)
  • All operators over age 16 must have a valid drivers license.

Parking: Dummer: (Summer Only) Dummer Pond Road, located on West side of Route 16, 0.5 miles South of Pontook Resevoir/Dam. Dummer: (Summer Only) Newell Brook Road, located on West side of Route 16, 2.5 miles North of Pontook Resevoir/Dam. Millsfield: Millsfield Pond Road, located off Route 16, 0.4 miles North of Errol/Cambridge town line. Go West on Millsfield Pond Road 5.5 miles to parking area. (Winter parking only at beginning of road/Seven Islands.) Millsfield: Pond Brook Road, located on South side of Route 26, 5 miles from junction of Routes 16 and 26. (Winter parking only at beginning of road.)
Information: ATVs ONLY/No trail bikes. ATV use not permitted on plowed roads during winter.

Ammonoosuc Recreational Rail Trail (Littleton to Woodsville)
Trail: OPEN

Parking: Lisbon: Located off Central Street/Landaff Road. Look for trail parking signs. Gas and food are available in Lisbon, Bath and Woodsville.
Information:: A multiuse rail trail open year-round for use by ATV/UTV/TB. Connects to the Blackmount Rail Trail.

Blackmount Rail Trail (Woodsville to North Haverhill)
Trail: OPEN

Parking: North Haverhill: Located on Route 10, next to the “Augie’s Take-A-Break” Pavillion. Look for trail parking signs on the corner of Route 10 and Brier Hill Road. Connects to Ammonoosuc Recreational Rail Trail.
Information:: A multiuse rail trail open year-round for use by ATVs and trail bikes. Connects to the Ammonoosuc Recreational Rail Trail.

Parking: New Durham (Den Trails): From junction of Routes 28 and 11 (Alton traffic circle), 7 miles North on Route 28, right on Rines Road, stay left at fork, over bridge and past green gate, follow signs, parking is on left. New Durham (Route 11 Trails): From junction of Routes 28 and 11 (Alton traffic circle), 5.5 miles East on Route 11, parking on right across from Quaker Road.
Information:  All riders, and recreational enthusiasts, need to abide by posted signs and respect the landowner wishes.

Sugar River Recreational Rail Trail (Newport to Claremont)
Trail: OPEN
Miles: 9.5
Parking: Newport: Located next to the Newport Recreation Department. From the town center, head ¼ mile north on Route 10 and turn left onto Belknap Avenue. Parking is located 1/10 of a mile from this turn. Claremont: Located at the western terminus of the trail on the South side of Routes 11 and 103, 1.7 miles West of the Newport/Claremont town line.
Information:: A multiuse rail trail open year-round for use by ATVs and trail bikes ONLY. Trail does not connect to Sullivan County ATV Club trails.

Parking: Parking available behind Burger King. Claremont-Cat Hole Trails Washinton St/Route 11/103 West, turn right on Winter St (just past Wal-Mart), right on Green Mtn Rd, bear left at Foisy Hill Rd onto Cat Hole Rd, pavement ends, parking 1/4 mile on left.

Pisgah State Park (Winchester/Chesterfield)

Parking: Winchester: (Summer and Winter) From Keene take Route 10 South to Route 119 West, go about 3 miles, parking on Right/North side of Route 119. Chesterfield: (Winter Only) From Keene take Route 9 West to Route 63 South, go about 1.5 miles, turn Left/East onto Old Chesterfield Road, turn Right/South onto Horseshoe Road, parking at end of road.

Hillsborough Recreational Rail Trail (Hillsborough to Bennington)
Trail: OPEN May 23rd

Parking: Deering: From Routes 202 & 9, take Route 149 South, take first right/West Mill Street, follow for about 2 miles, take the first right after the road turns to dirt and look for the parking signs on the right. Located at the Deering Fish and Game Club.

Parking: Please Note: Access to parking area via Route13 to Winslow Road is no longer available as the Stark Brook Bridge has been closed due to structural issues. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ALONG WINSLOW ROAD. The parking area may still be accessed via Route 77 to Ray Road in Dunbarton.
